The programs listed below are those that: 1) I use several times a week, if not daily; and 2) I consider useful for the general user who is likely to read this page. All of the following programs are FREE. I have provided a brief indication of what the program does and where you can get it. While I am not an expert at any of these, I have used them quite a bit and can probably answer questions if you run into difficulty.
For additional software, see the excellent Pricelessware or this list. Please note that many of the programs below have full (or pro) versions that can be purchased. The links below will take you to the product's home page where you can read about features, etc. I trust you will be able to find the downloadable from there.
NoteTab Light
Notetab does HTML and plain text. It has multiple clipbooks and other nifty features. I have the pro version at home but use this free version every day at school.
Mozilla
Mozilla is the open source browser using the gecko engine which forms the basis of Netscape 6 and 7. AOL has pretty well trashed Netscape with ridiculous add-ons, but Mozilla is outstanding.
Arachnophilia
This used to be my favorite HTML editor. I still use it daily but find myself in NoteTab more often now.
Open Office
Suite of programs: Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Drawing, etc.
AVG
Anti-virus program, protects your computer from attack by viruses.
Irfanview
Graphics manipulator, can resize, preview, slideshow, convert among gif, jpg, and bmp formats among many others. If you use pictures for Hyperstudio, PowerPoint or Web pages, you need this one.
ZoneAlarm
Personal firewall; protects your computer from attack while on the Internet.
Adaware
Adaware scans your computer and will remove, at your request, spyware which compromises your security and privacy on the internet.
Pegasus
Pegasus is the Internet's longest-serving email program and was recently chosen the best by PC World magazine.
